Staying in good health is more than not having any illnesses. Incorporating healthy habits into your daily life can benefit your physical and mental health. Here are five ways to encourage your body and mind to stay healthy. It is never too late to start living healthy, no matter your age.

Eat Healthy and Exercise

Eating a healthful diet includes a high daily intake of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to help prevent dehydration. Any type of exercise you choose to do on a daily basis will help to maintain your health. Walking, jogging, jumping rope, bicycling, and playing a sport all are considered beneficial exercises.

Drink Green Tea

Anti-oxidants found in green tea may help to neutralize damaging free radicals in your body, according to The University of Maryland Medical Center. In effect, the anti-oxidants can be a contributing factor to preventing cancer, promoting heart health, lowering bad cholesterol levels, and increasing your metabolism. Drink at least one cup of green tea per day to promote good health. It is low in caffeine, and you can add sugar or sweeter if it tastes too bitter.

Take a Steam Bath

Enjoy relaxing in a steam bath for 20 minutes. Muscle tension results in various aches and pains.
The heat and humidity of a steam bath provides a relaxing atmosphere, diffuses the pain and relaxes tired muscles. Blood circulation increases to your skin. Excessively sweating opens your skin pores, allowing bodily waste to be flushed out. Taking a steam bath regularly can quite possibly have a positive effect on your physical health.

Think Positive

Start each day by making the decision to be positive. Think and speak positive words. Thinking negatively all the time is not healthy for your physically or mentally. When a negative thought enters your mind, force yourself to replace it with a positive one. Practicing this will eventually teach your mind to think more positively, and to ignore negative thoughts., Don't expect drastic results overnight, as achieving and maintaining a positive mindset is an ongoing process.

Laugh

Laugh for your health! Stress from everyday concerns build up, increasing your anxiety. Laughter is very contagious. One child in a classroom snickering can cause the entire room to erupt in laughter. Laughter reduces the level of stress hormones and strengthens your immune system. This increases the amount of endorphins and neurotransmitters that are released. This promotes a stronger immune system, which will improve your physical and mental health.
