Things to Do in Southern California in the Winter

Although Los Angeles, California, enjoys year-round temperate climate, the average temperature in winter is 68 to 69 degree Fahrenheit, too cool for the beach and the time of the year that many Southern Californians turn to indoor pursuits. Biking, hiking and running outdoors all also winter possibilities, with low humidity and often better air quality.

Day Spas

Day Spas are quite popular in Los Angeles, both as a place to look better on the outside and feel better on the inside. Indoor rock climbing is perfect for winter, because you don't have to worry about rain--there is actually rain in Southern California--or layering for cool temperatures. Indoor climbing gyms have routes of varying difficulty, for kids through adults, beginners through expert climbers. The Rock Gym has instructional classes, personal training and open sessions where anyone can climb. Kids 17 and younger must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver.
