No one likes to age; people have been searching for the legendary fountain of youth for centuries. The modern version is the anti-aging cream. Although over-the-counter anti-aging creams are in no way miraculous, regular use can help prevent and reduce signs of aging, such as skin tone discoloration or fine lines around your eyes. As your skin ages, age spots and other discolorations often appear and can leave your complexion looking mottled and dull. Isomers' skin tone correcting cream earned the top grade in anti-aging expert Paula Begoun's three-grade product ranking system. It brightens your skin with what Begoun says is an "impressive amount of niacinamide," plus antioxidants and conditioning herbal extracts. This can leave your skin tone more even and may help fade discolorations. It's also fragrance-free, which is good for people with sensitive skin.
Nivea Visage Anti-Rides Q10 Plus Soin Contour de L'Oeil avec Filtres UVA/UVB
The sensitive, thin skin near your eyes need protecting from wrinkles and discolorations, but standard face creams are often too heavy or irritating for the area. For the eye area, Nivea's Visage eye contour cream was one of the "better performers" in Consumer Reports' October 2009 testing of dozens of anti-aging eye creams. Even though it's only sold in drugstores in Europe, Consumer Reports recommends getting it online due to its effectiveness, noting that it was recommended by testers "more than any other cream." This may be due to its use of coenzyme Q10, which the University of Maryland Medical Center says may be a potent anti-wrinkle ingredient.
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Visibly Even Daily SPF 15 Moisturizer
Many of the signs of aging, like wrinkles, are caused by the sun's UVA and UVB rays. Prevent such damage with Neutrogena's daily moisturizer, which earned Begoun's rare "Paula's Pick" award for performing beyond expectations. It also contains salicylic acid, which may help exfoliate your skin and reduce the severity of fine lines, reports the University of Maryland Medical Center. Begoun says it is "highly recommended" for those who need an "antioxidant-rich daytime moisturizer."
Olay Pro-X Wrinkle Smoothing Cream
Unlike many anti-aging creams, Olay's claims regarding its cream's performance are true, says Begoun. She says its use of rich emollients, antioxidants and peptides help to smooth away the appearance of wrinkles and can improve the overall condition of your skin. You may wish to wear it at night, as it may be too heavy for wearing under your makeup.
