Overnight acne treatment products are used to cure breakouts while you sleep. They are typically applied at bedtime and rinsed off the following morning. Ingredients used to treat pimples found in the treatment product are likely to include salicylic acid. Salicylic acid unclogs pores and sloughs off dead skin cells.

Clearasil Ultra Overnight Acne Serum

This serum may not completely cure acne overnight, but the manufacturer claims that it will reduce the size of pimples and calm irritation. The active ingredient used in the serum is 2 percent concentration of salicylic acid. According to the makers of the product, it's ideal for overnight use because cells are going through the regeneration process at this time. Each night after cleaning the skin, a thin layer of the serum should be applied to acne-affected areas of your face. Wash your face as you normally would the following morning. If you experience any side effects, such as irritation and peeling, reduce usage to every other day.

Patricia Wexler Acnostat Overnight Acne Repair Lotion

This lightweight lotion is sold through the Bath & Body Works chain of stores. It contains salicylic acid to control oil and exfoliate dead skin cells that block the pores. The lotion is designed to reduce the inflammation caused by acne while preventing pimples. Use it at night before bed and after cleaning your face with a mild facial cleanser. Leave it on overnight and then cleanse as you normally would the next morning.

Dermalogica Overnight Clearing Gel Acne Treatment

This overnight gel is meant to treat current breakouts while also controlling oil on the skin to prevent future breakouts. It also aims to inhibit the growth of acne-causing bacteria on the surface of the skin. The salicylic acid in the gel unclogs pores of oil and dead skin cells while the caffeine slows oil production. Tea tree oil has antiseptic properties. To use the Dermalogica Overnight Clearing Gel Acne Treatment, apply the solution in a thin and even layer to all areas of the face after cleansing in the evening. Place another layer on areas of the skin with active breakouts. Sleep with the solution on the face and cleanse as usual the following morning.
