Stomach fat can be so stubborn that you may consider going under the knife to get rid of it. A tummy tuck is one of the quickest solutions to eradicating fat, but it is also expensive, can be painful and requires a lot of recovery time. As an alternative, work your core abdominal muscles and do aerobic exercise to lose that tummy fat.

Bicycle Crunches

Bicycle crunches work all of your ab muscles including upper and lower abs and obliques on the sides of your tummy. Lie on your back with knees bent and lower back planted on the floor. Raise your feet so calves are parallel to the floor and place hands behind your head. Rotate legs in and out as though you are on a bicycle, touch right elbow to left knee then left elbow to right knee. Do this 25 times, rest and do four more sets of 25 reps.

Stability Ball Walk Outs

Lie face down on a stability ball, your stomach resting on top of the ball, hands planted on the floor and your body in a straight line parallel to the floor. Slowly walk your hands outward until the tops of your ankles touch the ball and walk backward to starting position. Do not let your back arch or stomach and hips sag toward the floor. Do two sets of 10 reps.

Cardiovascular Training

The Mayo Clinic recommends daily, moderate intensity exercise to get rid of stomach fat. There are a variety of ways to accomplish this. You may engage in circuit training which increases heart rate, burns calories and increases muscle mass. By gaining more muscle, you burn more calories even while at rest. You can swim, run, walk, jump rope, dance or do elliptical training. Try mixing it up with a lot of different cardio activities so that you don't get bored. Do interval training where you shift between periods of high intensity to low intensity.
