Goji juice comes from goji berries, which, the Goji Juice website reports, are "found mainly in the Himalayan areas, where the conditions are the most suitable for the existence of goji plants." Health providers in China, India, Tibet, and Nepal have used the goji fruit to treat numerous illnesses for hundreds of years.

Medicinal Properties

Goji Juice claims that the goji fruit aids in the development of new cells. As the body ages, the development of new cells slows, and it is thought that the goji fruit helps regenerate new cells quicker. Many eastern countries think of the goji fruit as a "fountain of youth."

Anti-Aging

Writing for Genesis Today, Dr. Lindsey Duncan reports that the goji fruit contains antioxidants that help combat the harmful agents that speed up the aging process on your body. It is also thought that the goji may stimulate the pituitary gland. "Human growth hormone (hGH) is secreted from the pituitary gland and is responsible for reduction of body fat, better sleep, improved memory, accelerated healing, restored libido and a more youthful appearance," Duncan writes. A study published in 2009 in the journal "Nutrition Research" confirms the antioxidant properties of goji juice, but notes that effects on humans had "not been extensively examined."

Improved Immunity

Goji juice may have the ability to improve and regulate immunity, with Dr. Duncan noting that polysaccharides in goji fruit help the body balance the various classes of immune cells. Goji can also help decrease inflammation in the body, which in turn can decrease cancer risk.

Weight Loss Promotion

Studies have shown that the goji fruit aids in weight loss. According to Goji Highlights, "goji's ... polysaccharides were shown to reduce body weight by enhancing the conversion of food into energy instead of fat." Being overweight leads to many health problems, and slimming down by eating well and exercising can boost the body's overall health.
