Facial exercises can help improve the look and feel of your face, including reducing wrinkles and toning the chin, jawline and nose area. By utilizing natural facial exercises you can avoid the expensive cost of plastic surgery and other facial surgeries, and you can get similar results using all-natural techniques. Muscles in the face need to be worked out just as the rest of your body's muscles do, to give your face a more youthful, toned look.
Double Chin Exercise
To workout the muscles around the chin area, this simple exercise is an effective all-natural option. It is an ideal exercise for reducing the appearance of a double chin. Carolyn Cleaves of CarolynsFacialFitness.com recommends doing this exercise twice a day for two weeks in order to see noticeable results. Begin by placing both of your thumbs underneath the chin directly below your actual chin bone where the muscles are located. Press your tongue to the roof of your mouth while simultaneously sliding each thumb one at a time forward and backward in a massaging motion. Move each thumb in an alternating motion every time you press your tongue to the roof of your mouth, or as Carolyn puts it, "[use] a rhythm of one thumb slide for every tongue press." Do a total of 40 repetitions per session.
Lip Pucker
To exercise and strengthen the muscles surrounding the mouth, you can use the pucker exercise. Begin by puckering your lips tightly as if you were kissing, and hold for five seconds before releasing. Next, pucker your lips again, and this time move your lips from side to side without moving your tongue; do a total of about 10 repetitions. Finally, close your lips tightly and say "m...m...m" followed by "p..." and "b..." while being sure to keep your lips tightly drawn; repeat several times. Do this combination of three mouth exercises several times over each day.
"O" Exercise
This facial exercise is a natural way to firm the cheeks and mouth muscles. Start by opening your mouth as wide as possible, and then hide your teeth beneath your lips. Next, purse your lips in a tight "O" shape while making sure to hold this position tightly for a few seconds before releasing. Repeat this motion for at least 10 repetitions. This exercise can be used two or three times daily to strengthen the facial muscles.
Eye Exercises
Use this four-movement facial exercise routine to work the eye area of the face, including the eyebrows and forehead. Begin by opening your eyes as widely as possible; hold for a few seconds. Next, transition into a frown face, and hold for a moment before releasing. Third, close your eyes as tightly as possible, and hold for a couple of seconds before transitioning into the last movement. Finally, keep your eyelids closed while making the movement of opening your eyes as wide as possible by lifting your eyebrows. Repeat this four-step facial exercise up to 10 times per session.
