Not all facial moisturizers are alike. Some don't offer suitable moisturizing power, and some lack potent antioxidants and skin conditioners. Don't waste your money on such products. An effective facial cream hydrates your skin while giving your cells the nutrients they need to maintain their health and combat problematic skin conditions like wrinkling.

Olay Pro-X Age Repair Lotion with SPF 30

Olay Pro-X is the company's premium anti-aging line. Its repair lotion was reviewed and ranked by skincare expert Paula Begoun in her book "Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me." She called it "very good," noting that it smooths on easily and comes with various skin-conditioning active ingredients like vitamin E, glycerin and niacinamide. It also contains avobenzone for effective blocking of the sun's UV light. Begoun notes that the product dries to a lightweight, matte finish and can be worn under your makeup.

L'Bel Paris Cellvivance Intensive Firming and Reactivating Facial Treatment Cream

L'Bel Paris' facial cream won a coveted nomination in the 2010 beauty awards put on by the Cosmetic Executive Women, one of the industry's largest trade groups. Reviewers noted that it is ideal for mature skin and can help improve the skin's health by rejuvenating the skin cells. Vegetable extracts, antioxidants and standard emollients help firm and tone your skin.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Glow Sheers SPF 30

Neutrogena's sheer facial cream is one of the company's best performing products, reports Begoun. It goes on smoothly and dries to a matte finish with subtle cosmetic pigments that help to camouflage poor skin tone and blemishes. Begoun liked its use of antioxidants and titanium dioxide, which help protect the skin from the sun while nourishing and minimizing the effects of free radicals.

Kinerase PhotoFacials Sun Damage Reversal System Day Moisturizer

Not only does Kinerase's damage reversal cream have an exceptionally high SPF of 50, but it also includes what Begoun calls "intriguing ingredients" that can help rejuvenate and recondition your skin's surface for a smoother and healthier complexion. She ranks it as "very good" and says it's best for normal to dry skin.
