Cleanse Patch is a product designed to be applied to the sole of the foot during sleep. Manufacturers claim the patch will rid the human body of heavy metals and toxins, resulting in "increased energy," an "improved immunity system" and relief from sleepless nights, headaches and joint pain, among other things. There are three active ingredients in Cleanse Patch that are credited as unique to this particular brand.
Tourmaline
Mined in Brazil, Sri Lanka and several African countries, tourmaline is both a colorful gem and a mineral of scientific interest. When heated, tourmaline can become electrically charged with a positive charge at one end and a negative charge at the other. According to the Cleanse Patch website, the charged tourmaline produces negative ions that "promote increased circulation and detoxification activity."
Agaricus Mushroom
The company says the mushroom it uses in Cleanse Patch may improve the human immune system, cardiovascular system, digestion and weight management. While the Encyclopaedia Britannica sites about 60 species of the agaricus mushroom--including the edible meadow or field mushroom--Cleanse Patch does not specify which variety of the fungus is included as an active ingredient in its product.
Shian Chen, Ph.D., a researcher featured by the Breast Cancer Research Program, has conducted research suggesting that some mushrooms may contain aromatose inhibitors capable of hindering the growth of some cancers. However, tests are in early phases, and researchers such as Chen recommend ingesting mushrooms--rather than absorbing them through the skin--to experience any benefits.
Eucalyptus Sap Powder
Extracted from Australia's eucalyptus tree, eucalyptus oils are known for their fever-controlling and germ-killing properties.
Other Ingredients
Each patch comes with a separate piece of adhesive tape meant to attach the patch securely to the sole of the foot.
According to the official Cleanse Patch website, Cleanse Patch contains no "filler" ingredients. Instead, the company says its product contains "more than double" the amount of each active ingredient used in competing products.
