Outside of recovery support group meetings, sponsorship, service work and living one day at a time, people in recovery from addictions have the opportunity to participate in activities that support their sobriety. Recovery and treatment programs encourage fellowship and interaction with others on the same path of building a new life. Participating in events with others who have faced the same struggles and speak the same language can shore up your own commitment to ongoing recovery.

12 Step Music Fest

Self-described as a mini Woodstock without the alcohol and drugs, this four-day festival features celebrity speakers and performers, marathon 12 step recovery program meetings and lively group activities. Key West, Florida, is the venue for the 2010 event and some meetings are conducted while participants float in the ocean. Musicians perform at a main stage and a coffeehouse stage throughout the festival. Vendor participants offer recovery-oriented medallions, jewelry, gifts and apparel. A children's tent is set up to provide activities and crafts each day.
