Exercise is important because it helps you maintain your weight and gives you more energy, says the Mayo Clinic. Many people have busy lives and don't have time to go to the gym to workout. If you want to workout, but find it impossible because of your work schedule, using a video exercise program is a good way to make a healthy lifestyle change. The best video exercise programs vary in difficulty and impact but produce quick and lasting results when done frequently.

P90X

Established by Tony Horton, P90X is a 90-day exercise program designed to hit all three areas of fitness: cardiovascular, muscular strength and endurance and flexibility. The program consists of 12 DVDs, including Plyometrics and Ab Ripper X. The variety of P90X confuses the muscles to avoid plateaus, according to Beachbody. Some items, such as dumbbells and a pullup bar, are required to complete the program. P90X is an intense video exercise program; therefore, talk to your doctor before starting it. Purchase P90X on the Beachbody website.

Winsor Pilates

Winsor Pilates offers you a low-impact but effective workout that tones your muscles, helping you lose fat. Mari Winsor, the owner of two California studios, created the program by expanding on the exercise method developed by Joseph Pilates, according to Winsor Fit. The length of each Pilates video is between 20 minutes and an hour. If you're not comfortable with the advanced videos right away, opt for the beginners series, which teaches you basic Pilates moves and breathing techniques. Most of your workout is completed on the floor, so investing in a yoga mat makes it more comfortable for your back. Winsor Pilates videos are available new or used at websites such as Amazon and eBay.

Slim in 6

Slim in 6 tones your body with light impact moves, says Debbie Siebers, the creator of the program. Slim in 6 lasts for six weeks and comes with three videos that show you how to burn more calories during your workout and throughout the day. The program also includes a nutrition guide so that you can make healthy food decisions to speed up your weight loss and a tape measure for recording your results. Slim in 6 is available on the Beachbody website.

Tae Bo

The Tae Bo exercise videos were developed by Billy Blanks. Tae Bo combines martial arts and exercise moves to give you a workout that uses your entire body and raises your heart rate. Several Tae Bo videos are available online and in stores, including BootCamp and Tae Bo Amped. If you use the program, expect to increase your accuracy, confidence and speed, says Billy Blanks.
