Scenic Miami, Florida, is located along the Atlantic Ocean and features adventurous water activities and fitness activities among the diverse city streets. In 2002, Miami was ranked "Healthiest City" from the "Natural Health Magazine," emphasizing that Miami truly lives outdoor. From top-ranked sporting facilities to coastal beach activities, Miami caters to all individual and family skill levels.

Beach Activities

Must-see Miami beaches are known for the stunning ocean views and variety of activities beyond the normal swimming and sunbathing.
Haulover Beach Park is known to be the "Best Surfing Beach," according to Frommer's Travel Guide. Haulover features kite flying, tennis, volleyball courts and a 9-hole golf course.
Hobie Beach is known for the windsurfing. With great views of the Miami skyline, there are wind board rentals and fishing is allowed.
Miami Beach features North, Central and South Beach that offer water-sports rentals, walking trails and volleyball courts.

Water Sports

Miami's water is a playground for the adventurous local or traveler. Paragliding, surfing and scuba diving the water and waves "spells" fun in the sun. Miami Boat Rental located in Pier 5 features boat rentals for many water sports.
Boat rentals range from fishing boats to boats featuring capabilities to water ski, wake board, snorkel or scuba dive. Jet skis are also available to rent. Designated beaches also offer water-sports rentals from the beach.

Golfing

Miami's public or private golf courses feature challenging layouts ranked in the nation's "Top 10" courses by "Golfweek" magazine. Hosting one of the World Golf Championship events, spectators and participants flock to Miami for its well-known golf reputation.
Frommer's Travel Guide rates Doral Golf Resort & Spa as the "Best Hotel Course." Doral is known for the legendary Blue Monster Course, which is the site of the World Championship golf tournament and has been on the PGA Tour schedule since the 1960s, but it also has three other quality courses.
"Best in the City" is the 79-year-old Miami Beach Golf Club course. The 200-acre Crandon Park Golf Course on Key Biscayne, with stunning views of the Biscayne Bay, is one of the area's best public course and ranks No. 1 in Florida's municipal courses.

Biking

With more than 130 miles of paved paths, biking Miami allows people to view city streets and exotic plants. Miami Beach Bicycle Center features mountain, racing, hybrid and cruiser bike rentals. With more than 30 years in existence, Miami Beach Bicycle Center offers a free community ride every second Saturday of the month. For non-city riders, Key Biscayne and Shark Valley in Everglades National Park feature scenic rides outside the city roads.

Kayaking

Kayaking or canoeing Biscayne National Park allows paddlers to explore numerous areas of the park. Visitors can launch their own kayak for free, or rentals can be purchased at the Biscayne National Park Inc.
Kayaking Shallow Jones Lagoon, you can encounter rays, reef sharks or dolphin. Hurricane Creek is a well-known place to snorkel to view anemones, crabs and sea squirts. During the winter months, Biscayne National Park guides lead canoe and kayak trips throughout the park.
