Men and women exercise almost every part of the body from calves to shoulders to give themselves a toned, sculpted and firm look. Facial exercises can tone the muscles in the face and firm the skin by targeting five common problem areas around the face: the double chin, sagging neck, crow's feet around the eyes, wrinkles, and chubby cheeks. Facial exercises can be repeated five to 10 times while sitting or standing erect.

Double Chin

Many people are embarrassed about their double chin or undefined jaw line. Utilize this simple exercise to help firm the muscles around the jaw line and chin. Lean your head back and relax your face. Close your lips and then tighten them into a kissing position for a few seconds. Relax and repeat. For another exercise, lead and rotate the chin slowly starting at the left shoulder and moving to the right shoulder. Try a complete head roll if it does not bother the neck. Relax and repeat.

Saggy Neck

As people age, the region around their neck naturally looses elasticity and becomes wrinkled and saggy. Try this exercise to firm the neck region. This exercise is very similar to the double chin exercise. However after leaning your head back, move the bottom lip above the top lip and hold for 10 seconds. To focus on the front of the neck, again lean your head back and press your tongue firmly into the roof of the mouth. Move the chin as far down as possible while maintaining this mouth position.

Sagging Skin Around the Eyes

Crow's feet and sagging skin around the eyes are some of the first blemishes to show as people age. Try this exercise to tighten the skin around the eyes. Smile and then keep only your eyes in the smiling position and relax the rest of the face. Apply pressure with your fingers to the crease area around your and then move the bottom eyelid so that you feel resistance at the crease. For an additional exercise, move the eyes slowly from far left to far right while keeping the face still and forward. Relax and repeat.

Wrinkles

Wrinkles often form because of unconscious clenching and tightening movements that create gradually noticeable lines. Try this exercise to relax the face. After closing your eyes, focus on releasing any tightness you are holding in your face, particularly the mouth, forehead, and eyes. Focus only on relaxing the muscles and nothing else. To lessen wrinkles around the forehead, rub the knuckles of your hand from the center of the forehead out to the temple. Repeat as needed.

Chubby Cheeks

While chubby 'chipmunk' cheeks are cute at a young age, people often want more defined cheek bones as they age. To define the cheeks, try smiling away with this exercise that uses the smiling motion to to firm the cheeks. First, smile and focus particularly on raising the corners of the mouth. Keep all other muscles, especially the eyes, relaxed. Hold for 10 seconds. Relax and repeat. For an additional exercise, smile again while also slightly pursing the lips. Then, suck in your cheeks and hold for five seconds. Relax and repeat.
