According to Medicine Net, the term skin rash does not have an exact meaning, and it is generally applied to different types of skin irritations that change the appearance and feeling of the skin. While skin rashes may be uncomfortable and embarrassing, there are some home remedies that can help get rid of a skin rash on the face. However, the FDA has not evaluated these treatments, so you should talk to your doctor or dermatologist before starting a new skin care regimen.

Olive Oil and Beer

A mixture of olive oil and beer is a common folk remedy for getting rid of a rash, according to Jethro Kloss, author of "Back to Eden: The Classic Guide to Herbal Medicine, Natural Foods, and Home Remedies Since 1939." Kloss reports you can gently massage a rash with a mixture of two tablespoons olive oil and one-half tablespoon beer to help get rid of it. Kloss recommends gently massaging the mixture into the skin for two to three minutes before simply leaving it on the skin for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse the skin with cool water after 15 to 20 minutes and pat dry with a clean towel. Do not apply any moisturizing cream or other products. This olive oil and beer treatment can be used two times per day unless more skin irritation occurs.

Baking Soda and Vitamin E Oil

Applying baking soda and vitamin E oil to a skin rash is a common home remedy to help reduce redness and get rid of a rash, according to Kloss. To use a mixture of baking soda and vitamin E oil on the skin, mix two tablespoons vitamin E oil with one teaspoon baking soda in a small container with a tight-fitting lid. Gently massage a small amount of the mixture into the skin and leave it on for 10 minutes. Rinse the skin with cool water and pat dry with a clean towel. You can use this mixture on a rash up to three times per day as long as it does not irritate your skin further. Note that only pure vitamin E oil should be used, as vitamin E oil with added ingredients may make your skin rash worse or cause other skin irritations.

Aloe Vera Gel and Cod Liver Oil

According to Melanie A. Sachs, author of "Ayurvedic Beauty Care," a mixture of natural aloe vera gel and cod liver oil is commonly used in Ayurvedic beauty care and medicine to get rid of rashes in children and adults. To use aloe vera gel and cod liver oil for a rash, mix three tablespoons all-natural aloe vera gel with one tablespoon all-natural cod liver oil. Apply a thin layer to the skin and leave it on for 20 to 25 minutes before rinsing the skin with cool water. There is no need to wash the skin with soap, as this may cause further irritation. You can apply this treatment up to two times per day as long as it does not irritate your skin.
