Made by the Sephora company, Rosebud Salve is a multi-purpose balm. It is designed to soothe dry, chapped lips and heal the irritation caused by dry lips, but can also be used on knees and elbows to treat dry skin. In addition, Rosebud Salve can relieve the pain associated with minor burns, and can also be used to treat diaper rash.

Cottonseed Oil

Cottonseed oil is pale yellow in color. It is expressed from cotton seeds after the cotton lint has been removed. Cottonseed oil must further be refined to remove the natural toxin gossypol which protects the cotton plant from insect damage.
Cotton seed oil is a skin conditioning agent and an emollient, as well as a surfactant and emulsifying agent. As an emulsifier, cotton seed oil evenly distributes ingredients that do not normally dissolve together. Cotton seed oil also helps increase the viscosity so that the final product is of the desired thickness and consistency.

Aromol

Aromol is also known as aromol rosmarini oil. Aromol consists of seven different essential oils, including lavender, rosemary and juniper berries. When applied topically, aromol is easily absorbed, forming a thin impermeable layer on the outermost layer of the skin. This helps skin to stay moisturized by preventing water loss.
According to Herba Laboratorij, aromol has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antiseptic properties, and these properties give Rosebud Salve the ability to help treat diaper rash and the pain associated with minor burns by controlling inflammation and providing pain relief. Aromol has also been shown to help treat rheumatism, sciatica, neuralgia, myalgia, joint and muscle pain and stiffness, as well as contusions and sprains.

Petrolatum Base

Petrolatum is a colorless or pale yellow semisolid that protects skin. It slows the loss of water from the skin by creating a barrier on the skin's surface. This barrier also provides protection and relief from harmful stimuli. Petrolatum is a hydrocarbon, consisting of only carbon and hydrogen. While most hydrocarbons are derived from petrochemicals, some are found in plants and animals.
As a base in Rosebud Salve, petrolatum helps emulsify and evenly distribute the rest of the ingredients within the formulation, while at the same time providing a highly viscous, moisture-retaining property to the final product.
