If you find it hard to get excited about your workouts--whether for losing fat or gaining muscle--a pre-workout supplement can give you the energy and enthusiasm you need to hit the gym. One popular supplement is Nutrex Ignite. While this product does have benefits, it may also have side effects due to its potent ingredients. Educate yourself on potential adverse effects before using this supplement, and consult your doctor to ensure it's safe for you to use.

Difficulty Sleeping

One of the main ingredients in Nutrex Ignite is caffeine, a stimulant. Each two-capsule serving of Ignite contains 200mg of caffeine. According to the website Energy Fiend, that is nearly six times the amount found in a 12 oz. serving of Coca Cola. As the University of Maryland Medical Center explains, large amounts of caffeine can lead to side effects. Using Nutrex Ignite may lead to restlessness and difficulty sleeping, especially if you are sensitive to stimulants.

Diarrhea

According to the nutrition consultant Simon McNeil, another side effect associated with caffeine intake is diarrhea. This is because caffeine, and consequently, Nutrex Ignite, has diuretic effects--it flushes water out of your body. As a result, using Nutrex Ignite can result in frequent urination or diarrhea.

Addiction

Caffeine is known to be a potentially habit forming substance, and another ingredient in Ignite, theobromine, may exhibit similar properties. According to data from pharmaceutical researcher Simon Scheindlin, theobromine is potentially habit-forming and could be the stimulus for chocolate cravings. The combination of these two ingredients may make Nutrex Ignite an addictive substance and discontinuing use may be difficult.

Vomiting

According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, vomiting is another potential side effect of caffeine. While high doses of caffeine can produce this effect on their own, the addition of intense physical exertion may increase your chances of becoming sick and vomiting while using Nutrex Ignite. Be careful not to overexert yourself while using Nutrex Ignite, as it may result in sickness.
