The benefit of buying Ayurvedic herbs in bulk is that you can get better prices and potentially better quality herbs since you sometimes end up dealing directly with the farms and growers. It is important to choose growers that only provide organic Ayurvedic bulk herbs, since conventionally grown herbs can contain traces of toxic chemicals that can harm your health. Depending on the volume of Ayurvedic bulk herbs you plan to purchase, save glass jars to reuse as storage for your herbs. Many Ayurvedic herbs are available in bulk; three examples are haritaki, mustaka and kutaja.

Haritaki

Haritaki fruit is used in Ayurvedic medicine as an anti-fungal and antibacterial agent to prevent infections, particularly those present in the urinary tract. It helps combat E. coli bacteria and amoeba giaria parasites. Haritaki extracts have laxative properties, which means they increase your bowel movements and relieve constipation. According to the Ayurvedic Medicines website, haritaki is used in formulas meant to treat chronic ulcers and leucorrhea as well as mouth ulcers and stomatitis. Haritaki should not be taken while pregnant or if you have a weak digestive system. The many uses of haritaki make it a candidate for obtaining in bulk as it can be added to a variety of formulas geared to treat a range of ailments.

Mustaka

Mustaka is a type of grass that can be obtained in bulk and is used as a healing agent in Ayurvedic medicine. Mustaka roots have diuretic properties, which means they will promote the flow of urine and carminative properties, which means they will ease flatulence and colic in the gut. These attributes make it useful in treating irritation of the bowels and other gastrointestinal disorders, according to the Indianet Zone website. Make a paste of the root to use topically for skin wounds. Indianet Zone also notes that the essential oil of mustaka roots is thought to have antibiotic constituents.

Kutaja

Available in bulk form, kutaja is an Ayurvedic herb used to stimulate digestion due to its bitter taste, which promotes the flow of enzymes and hydrochloric acid as well as bile during the digestive process. Both the bark and the seeds of kutaja can be used interchangeably externally to disinfect wounds and internally for dysentery, diarrhea and colitis. It is also considered to be antipyretic, which means it helps reduce fevers, according to the Herbal Cure India website.
