The New Jersey shore offers a variety of fun and exciting things during summer months or any time of the year. From the more secluded southern shore towns, where you can explore the ecosystem on an educational marsh tour, to biking the Atlantic City boardwalk with its shops and carnival atmosphere, the New Jersey shore offers something for anybody who wants to stay active while having fun.

Eco-Touring

The southern New Jersey shore has a number of natural attractions that make for educational and fun eco-trips. The Cape May Bird Observatory offers field trips through Cape May's surrounding area, which is home to nearly 200 bird species. You can also explore Cape May's coastal waters with a salt marsh eco-tour. You'll encounter osprey, herons, oystercatchers, egrets, a variety of shorebirds, and much more as you cruise aboard The Osprey and learn about southern Jersey's ecosystem and history.

Spa

If you're spending a beach vacation along the southern New Jersey shore, you can indulge in some luxurious spa treatments. The Cape May Day Spa is a full-service spa that offers a variety of packages featuring treatments like stone and bamboo massages, facials, and body scrubs. Romantic couple treatments are also available.
The Fusion Salon and Day Spa offers beauty and health treatments at its two-story, 1,800-square-foot facility in Avalon. Services include hair design and styling, like extensions and color, and massage therapies, such as Swedish and deep tissue. Nail care, facials, and waxing treatments are also offered.

Golfing

There are a number of golf courses up and down the New Jersey shoreline. The Atlantic City Country Club is perhaps best known as the birthplace of the terms "birdie" and "eagle." The course is notorious for its extremely fast greens. Its bayside-setting gives it a feel similar to courses found in Scotland.
The Links at Brigantine Beach is situated on the coast and offers panoramic views. The course facilities are state-of-the-art with a recently renovated clubhouse and GPS technology for pinpointing yardage.

Biking the Atlantic City Boardwalk

The Atlantic City Boardwalk offers an array of entertainment and attractions. Local favorites, such as salt water taffy shops and souvenir boutiques, give the boardwalk a feel that is distinctly Americana. High-end shops, like Gucci and Louis Vuitton, and a variety of restaurants can also be found on the boardwalk strip. A great way to take it all in is by touring the boardwalk on bike. B & K Bike Rental provides adult and children's bikes, as well as baby seats and tandem bikes. Safety helmets can also rented.

Water Sports

You can cool off while spending some time at the Jersey shore with some surfing, kayaking, and windsurfing. In Atlantic City surfing is allowed at Crystal Beach, Delaware Avenue Beach, and Downtown Beach. There are no lifeguards on duty at these locations, but surf lessons are available. Kayaking and windsurfing are allowed at Jackson Avenue Beach. Here, too, no lifeguards are on duty, and you must bring your own equipment. Swimming is not allowed at this location.
