Las Vegas is primarily known for its array of adult activities--casinos, bars, entertainment spots and more. But for those who are planning a trip to Las Vegas with their family, there is still plenty of fun to be had for everyone. Las Vegas is, after all, "The Entertainment Capital of the World." With arcades, amusement rides, game rooms, light shows and more, Las Vegas has fun for everyone, including active families.
Animal Attractions
Seeing exhibits of exotic and wild animals can be an activity enjoyed by people of all ages. As is true of many big cities, Las Vegas has ample opportunities to enjoy animal life.
Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden has a dolphin habitat. In this exhibit, dolphins live in their natural habitat and are watched by visitors. For another exhibit with a natural habitat, check out the MGM Grand Hotel's lion exhibit. The lions live in and can be viewed in a realistic jungle environment. Dedicating a day to visit these attractions will keep the whole family walking as well as entertained.
Light Shows
Las Vegas is full of lights. It can seemingly be all neon and lights, especially at night. However, for a real light show check out the Fremont Street light show. It features more than 2 million lights and is displayed at nearly 100 feet in the air.
Be prepared to crane your neck--but it is well worth it for the fun of watching the lights dance around above your head. Furthermore, while you are there, you can keep your blood pumping by taking a stroll with the family on Fremont Street.
Amusement Rides
From roller coasters to 3-D experiences, anybody who enjoys carnival or amusement park rides can find a source of fun in Las Vegas.
Caesar's Palace is one of the best-known destinations in Las Vegas, and for good reason. It has a variety of 3-D movies available that create nearly interactive experiences for those who enjoy them. Galactic flights, graveyard jaunts and even a submarine movie are choices. Caesar's Palace also has roller coasters that range from benign to incredibly exciting with multiple loops and twists and upside-down tracks.
Visiting Las Vegas' amusement rides will make for an active day and a stimulating experience for the whole family.
Arcades
The arcades in Las Vegas are no different than any other entertainment venue in the city. The arcades are large, bright and have games that are nearly unimaginable.
GameWorks is the biggest and most famous of the arcades in Las Vegas. It has more than 300 games that will entertain and excite people of all ages. There is also a Coca-Cola store and an M&M store in the arcade that are much more than simply stores.
One of the focal points of GameWorks is a rock-climbing wall for those who seek vigorous adventure with their gaming. Another game that requires physical activity is "Virtual Arena," which is a martial arts game in which you fight the games controlled opponent by performing a variety of physical moves.
Family Dining
Many restaurants in Las Vegas are friendly for the whole family. There are pizza places by the dozen, many with specialized kids' menus.
Entertainment restaurant options are also widely available, so that you can enjoy your meal while the kids are entertained. Most other restaurants in Las Vegas will also have kids' menus available for families who are visiting the area.
Restaurants like CPK and Rainforest Cafe offer menu options that are tasty and healthy. Such options include soups, salads, pizzas on wheat dough as well as vegetarian options.
