The eyebrows are an important part of every man and woman's face. They frame the eyes making the face look more beautiful and protect the eyes from getting bits of dust in them. Yet not everyone's eyebrows are as full as they would like them to be. Dermatologist Audrey Kunin states on her website DermaDoctor.com that drugs used in chemotherapy can cause temporary hair loss of the eyebrows. Autoimmune disorders and certain medications can also cause hair loss. Some women over-pluck their eyebrows by accident, leaving the eyebrows sparse. Growing back eyebrow hair is not difficult but it takes time and persistence.

Step 1

Avoid plucking, waxing or any other sort of hair removal near the eyebrow area while you allow your eyebrow hair to grow back in. Even though you may feel the need to shape your brows as new hairs grow in, avoid the temptation to minimize the possibility of over-plucking. Instead, sweep a little bit of clear mascara on your eyebrows to make the hairs stay together and look well-groomed.

Step 2

Purchase and eyebrow conditioning gel and put it on your eyebrows twice every day. Dermatologist Audrey Kunin states that many different companies make lash or brow conditioners which contain vitamins, minerals and amino acids to help encourage new hair growth. If you can't find a brow conditioning gel, eyelash conditioning gels typically have the exact same ingredients and can be used on the brows. Conditioning gels are available at beauty supply stores, mass retailers and online, without a prescription.

Step 3

Talk to your dermatologist about the possibility of using minoxidil on your eyebrows. Minoxidil is a medication used to treat hair loss, usually on the scalp. The Mayo Clinic states that applying minoxidil foam or cream directly to the area can stimulate the growth of new hair and help to minimize hair loss. While it is typically not used on the eyebrows, it may be able to help grow hair faster in that area. You do not need a prescription to buy minoxidil, as it is available in many drugstores nationwide.

Step 4

Eat plenty of protein in foods like meats, beans, lentils, peanut butter and tofu. According to the website Teens Health, not getting enough protein in the diet can contribute to hair loss. Eating a protein-rich food at every meal will help to stimulate the growth of hair follicles in your eyebrow area, from the inside out.

Things You'll Need

  • Minoxidil
  • Eyelash conditioning gel
  • Clear mascara
