Snohomish County, Washington, is north of Seattle on Puget Sound. With beaches, mountain peaks, islands and dense woods, the area lends itself to many outdoor activities such as mountain biking, kayaking and hiking. Everett is the county's largest city. Local Music
Support local musicians by attending a performance of one of the many groups in Snohomish County. The area is home to the Cascade Symphony Orchestra and the Everett Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. Performing arts centers in Everett and nearby Edmonds frequently feature local and out-of-town talent.

Several organizations in Snohomish County offer dancing. Expose yourself to new music and dance styles. Learn the official state dance: the square dance. The county is home to several square dancing clubs such as Spurs and Laces in Snohomish and Checkerboard Squares in Edmonds. Learn the art of salsa dancing at Marimba! Restaurant in Everett. Salsa night takes place every Friday. The establishment also has live musicians who perform Latin American music.
Hiking/Playing
On a sunny day, take your instrument on your back and hike to a scenic spot in one of the many parks in Snohomish County. Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest offers many hiking trails. Other spots for walking include Esperance Park, Centennial Trail and Kayak Point Park. Find a comfortable spot and sit down to play. Not only will you get some practice time in, you just might serve as entertainment for fellow hikers/walkers. If you compose, let the beautiful landscapes and scenery serve as inspiration for your latest work. For those who hike alone, let someone know where you are going and how long you'll be gone.
Farmers Market
Listen to live music as you shop for fresh, locally grown produce at the Bothell Farmers Market at Country Village. From June to September, the market has live musical performers every Friday. Styles of music performed include Celtic, rock, Andean, blues and indie. The farmers market features fruits, vegetables, honey, flowers, nuts and breads.
Outdoor Concerts
Summer in Snohomish County is one of the few times of year that doesn't bring endless rain. Take advantage of one of the many outdoor concerts that take place throughout the warmer months. Pack a healthy, organic meal and have a picnic on the lawn as you are entertained. The cities of Edmonds, Bothell, Arlington, Mill Creek, Everett and Marysville all host outdoor concert series with a variety of musical genres in their parks.
