Sweat suits are a confirmed fashion faux pas, but this unfashionable workout wear is hard to beat in the comfort and functionality departments. Keeping comfortable and dressing for the part are two of the best ways to motivate yourself for a workout. But even if your sweat suit isn't dedicated for workout use, you can still put it to work in other ways.

Workout Wear

A workout is the only place a sweat suit doesn't count as a fashion disaster. The loose fit and wide range of movement mean that you can do everything from burpees to karate kicks without fear of blowing out your pants or a shoulder seam.

Covering Up

Because sweat suits are usually made of breathable fabrics, they make a good cover-up over your shorts and tank top once you're done with your workout. The breathable fabric lets your sweat evaporate while the coverage keeps you warm and modest.

Working

Because sweat suits are inexpensive and relatively durable, they're the ideal clothing to sacrifice when you know a project, such as painting the house or sealing a driveway, is likely to ruin your clothes.

Lounging

Sweat suits are the unofficial cold-weather uniform of home workers everywhere. Even if you don't work from home, it's hard to resist putting on something that's built purely for comfort on your days off.

Cleaning Supplies

It's tempting to hold on to that old sweat suit, in spite of the holes you've worn into it, because it's comfortable and full of treasured memories. Once you finally agree to give it up, give it a second life by cutting it up for use as soft, absorbent rags.
