Although best known for being the hub of the movie industry and many other fields, the city of Los Angeles, California, is also home to a number of fun and exciting activities that are a good way to get both some physical and mental exercise. Sports and Athletics
There are a number of sports opportunities available in the Los Angeles area, including a number of golf clubs, such as the Trump National Golf Club, widely regarded as one of the best golf courses in the country. It offers golfers a challenging layout as well as breathtaking views of the surrounding terrain.
While in the Los Angeles area, why not try one of the numerous gyms that have been used by some of the most famous athletes, such as Gold's Gym. Walking Tours
Walking tours are a great way to get an excellent workout while also seeing the best that this delightful city has to offer. If you like Los Angeles but want to get into the great outdoors for some fresh air and sunshine, then try one of the many parks in the Los Angeles area. Griffith Park, in particular, is quite popular with visitors and locals and includes a number of exciting activities including hiking trails, pony and train rides and golf courses.
You can also make your way to the world-famous Observatory, which recently underwent a $93 million renovation. Along the way, you'll see a statue of James Dean, which adds a fascinating aspect to this exciting outdoor adventure.
Animal Attractions
The Los Angeles area also features numerous zoos and animal parks, which offer you a great way to get outside and enjoy some exercise while learning about the fascinating world of animals. The Los Angeles Zoo & Botanical Gardens, widely considered to be one of the best zoos in the nation, houses 1,200 animals, offering you an opportunity to get some good walking exercise while drinking in the sight of these magnificent creatures.
For even more animal world fun, be sure to visit the Aquarium of the Pacific, which houses more than 12,500 animals in some 50 exhibits. For those who like to get hands-on experience, there are more than 150 sharks that you can touch.
