The city and county of San Francisco encompasses approximately 46 square miles and is home to one of the world's most popular bridges, the Golden Gate. Couples will find many romantic features in San Francisco, such as its skyline at night and beached that allow for moonlight strolls. For climbers seeking instruction, there are skill clinics that focus on intermediate techniques and outdoor climbing. Top rope, lead climbing and bouldering are the types of climbing offered to couples on a date to an indoor climbing center, such as Mission Cliffs and Planet Granite.

Dinner Dance Cruise

For active couples who want to spice up a dinner date in San Francisco, there are scenic dinner dance cruises in the Bay from companies such as Hornblower Cruises & Events and All San Francisco Tours. Cruises are from two and a half to three hours in duration, depending on the night the date takes place. An example of the dinner portion of this date option includes three-course meals with entrees, such as grilled marinated lamb chops and spinach pasta rolled with ricotta cheese, garlic, red peppers and basil. In addition to strolling along the outer decks, dancing is available to jazz, standards, and other popular hits from the 1940s through to today.

Kayaking

Kayaking dates are another romantically active option in San Francisco. Paddlers ranging from first-time to advanced can rent both kayaks and stand-up paddle boards. There are guided kayaking tours available that include a four hour trek from the shores of Sausalito to the Golden Gate Bridge. One romantic walking tour option is a walking night tours of Chinatown and North Beach which lasts approximately three hours. During this specific tour, walkers will indulge in some delicacies such as tea and dim sum in Chinatown and coffee from one of North Beach's coffee houses.
