Along the Gulf of Mexico sits the coastal city of Gulf Shores, Alabama. Anticipate emerald blue waters, soft powder sandy beaches and fresh air with a hint of coconut year-round. Arrange to visit the 20-acre amusement park, Waterville USA, tour the Gulf Shore Museum or play at the 18-hole Gulf State Park Golf Course. If you are traveling by RV, Gulf Shores offers plenty of camping sites. You still will be able to continue your health routine with the various recreational activities.
Camp on Mobile Bay
You may enjoy the breeze on the dock at Mobile Bay when you go camping. Depending on the lot you select you can reserve a space for less than $50 per night at Fort Morgan RV Park. The price includes Internet service, full hook-up and cable access for your RV camping trip. You can walk along the six acres of the park for your daily exercise. In addition, rent a furnished RV, bring your own RV or rent a cottage at Bay Breeze RV off Gulf Shores Parkway. If you have a watercraft or boat, you can tie your boat on the dock. Glide across the water in your canoe or water ski for a workout during your stay. Since the park sits along the beach, walk or jog in the morning to avoid the afternoon crowd.
Camp in Luxury
Make a reservation for a spot at the Luxury RV Resort for $33 a day as of 2010. There are full hook-ups, cable and concrete pads. While you stay, maintain a regular exercise routine by a swim in the pool, a game of volley ball, and a walk to the nearby beach or restaurants. If you forgot to pack an item, the on-site store might have what you are missing.
Camp in a State Park
You can reserve a campsite in the Gulf State Park for under $40. With 496 sites, you have plenty of choices of where you want to set up. Select a camp site on the lake, across from the lake or away from the lake. Plan for a swim in the on-site swimming pool or take a dip in the lake for your morning workout. In addition, schedule a few hours on the tennis courts or jog a portion of the estimated eight miles of trails. While you are there, pick up a few groceries at the camp store and wash your clothes before you leave in the coin-operated laundry center.
Weather
Gulf Shores receives mild weather throughout the year. Summers are scorching hot, however the wind from the Gulf of Mexico cools you down. So, make sure that you take plenty of bottles of water with you. If traveling during the spring and fall, the day-time is warm. Carry a lightweight jacket because the evening may produce a light wind. It is rare you need a heavy winter coat in the winter.
