Cincinnati, Ohio, has many family friendly activities to offer, and its local museums and zoos consistently are rated among the best in the country. Kids of any age will enjoy the many adventures in the convenient great outdoors and benefit from the local educational experiences offered in this well-rounded city.

Take a Hike

Cincinnati has many hiking trail options in a variety of difficulty levels to fit the age and energy level of your kid. The Beechwood to Red Oak Trail Loop, for example, is public-transportation accessible and was created by the Cincinnati Park Board to promote municipal reforestation.
Combine multiple trails together to create a longer hike with a stop at the picnic shelter along the way, or just enjoy the well-worn footpaths and minimal elevation gains on the forest ridge.

Have an Adventure

Located within Cincinnati city limits is part of Miami State Park. This beautiful and historic corridor stretches along the Miami River for a total outdoor activity area that stretches four counties long.
This space offers action sports for older kids such as summer canoeing or cross-country skiing in the winter, and also has fun for children of all ages in the form of camping, bicycling and horseback riding.

Visit an Attraction

The Coney Island Park offers kids many opportunities for fun including practicing their swing on a miniature golf course, splashing down water-slides, swimming in the giant pools and paddle-boating on a lake.
For indoor entertainment, head to the Duke Energy Children's Museum. Hands-on exhibits allow kids to climb, crawl and explore their way through topics such as art, science and reading. Special areas designated for preschool aged-kids and younger makes this a great option for little ones.

See the Animals

Rated as one of the "Top 10 Best Zoos for Kids" by "Parents Magazine," the Cincinnati Zoo is one of America's first and largest.
Take "The Kids' Favorites" self-guided tour and discover the children's zoo for climbing gyms and feeding animals, take a train ride or experience more than 500 animals from elephants to insects on foot among the 75 acres. Education programs and overnight experiences also are available.

All Sorts of Sports

Experience history by watching the Cincinnati Reds, the oldest professional baseball team, at the Great American Ball Park. During the winter, bundle up to experience the gridiron at a Bengals NFL game, or head indoors to root on the minor-league Cyclones to an exciting hockey win.
In the summer months, teach your son how to spike a ball at the professional beach volleyball tournament or run alongside the racers at the annual Flying Pig Marathon.
