You don't need to empty your bank account for a good skin cream. Some of the most effective skin cream products, designed to hydrate and protect your skin's health and appearance, are also reasonably priced. For the best bang for your buck, choose a top-performing skin-care product that's been reviewed and tested by skin-care experts or a dermatologist.
Isomers Sunscreen with UV Pearls SPF 20
Isomer's facial lotion--$14.50 for 4.06 oz.--comes formulated with pearls of zinc oxide, an effective sunscreen ingredient. Beauty expert Paula Begoun says such sunscreen products are the "real key to maintaining youthful skin," and says this cream has a "reasonable" price. She also liked its lack of fragrances, which is good for sensitive skin, and skin-conditioning antioxidants. She concludes that the cream's performance is "very good."
ROC Retinol Actif Pur Anti-Wrinkle Moisturizing Treatment Night
Dermatologist Leslie Baumann recommends using ROC's Actif Pur treatment--$13 for 1 oz.--if you want a retinol-based wrinkle cream, calling it a "great value" in her review in Women's Health magazine. Retinol helps to rejuvenate your skin cells for fewer fine lines. Besides retinol, ROC also includes alpha hydroxy acid, which exfoliates, and emollients like dimethicone and glycerin to hydrate and plump your skin.
Borghese Age-Defying Protective Eye Cream & Restorative Night Cream
Borghese's skin creams--$26.99 for 2.2 oz.--are "sold exclusively at Costco stores," reports Begoun. She says they're "value-priced" and a "package deal," formulated with antioxidants and beneficial herbal extracts that can help combat dry conditions and re-establish your skin's protective moisture barrier. The eye cream comes formulated without fragrances, ideal for the sensitive skin in the eye area. The night cream is intended to firm and lift the skin in the rest of your face.
Eucerin Everyday Protection Body Lotion SPF 15
Eucerin's sun protecting cream--$10.29 for 13.5 oz.--was tested and ranked by Begoun as "very good." She liked its inclusion of titanium dioxide, which effectively screens out UVA rays from the sun that may help create wrinkles. "Cost-wise," she writes, "it's quite a value." She also notes that it contains vitamin E as a potent antioxidant, which can help to further defend against skin damage that can make you look older.
