Most of us know the conventional method of weight loss is to burn more calories than we take in. Sometimes it is difficult to stick to that diet or to lose those last few pounds. Fortunately, there are a few unconventional weight loss methods you can try when diet and exercise are not enough.
Brush Your Teeth
Brushing your teeth not only keeps your enamel from decaying, it is also an unusual method for weight loss. That clean feeling in your mouth will prevent you from eating sweets or extra food you do not need. According to Lifescript, brushing your teeth will tell your brain the meal is over. Most food does not go well with the aftertaste of toothpaste, so you are less likely to eat after doing so. If you cannot brush after each meal, try chomping on sugarless mint flavored gum instead.
Wear Tight Clothing
Clothes that are too tight are not flattering appearance wise, but they can be a great motivator for weight loss. Try to keep a few items from your thinner days in your closet, even if you never wear them in public. When you feel like you are about to veer away from a healthy diet, try them on. This will help you remember how much you want to stick to your weight loss plan. If you are slightly overweight, try shopping for clothing a size or two smaller than your current size. Don't buy something that is impossible for you to fit in, but a piece of clothing that is slightly small will give you impetus to lose those extra pounds.
Laughter
Laughter is fun because it improves your sense of well being and relieves stress. However, weight loss can be a fringe benefit of laughing. The University of Maryland School of Medicine states that daily laughter expands stress-constricted vessels to increase blood flow. This can improve overall circulation and decrease the likelihood of respiratory diseases. According to William Fry, associate professor emeritus of clinical psychiatry at Stanford University, laughter involves physical exercise. He states that laughing 100 to 200 times a day is the cardio equivalent to rowing for 10 minutes.
