When most people think of Louisiana they immediately think New Orleans, but the state of Louisiana is blessed with a diverse eco-system, ranging from swampland to salt marsh and even some clear water lakes. Many of these campgrounds are open year-round. offering tons of recreational and sporting opportunities for families and adults.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park

Located in Robert, Louisiana, 52 miles north of New Orleans, this campground has 374 campsites and 88 cabin rentals onsite. Other amenities of the camp ground include a swimming pool, fishing pond, mini-golf course, canoes and kayaks to rent, basketball court, and a baseball field. The campgrounds is open year-round with December until Mardi Gras in February or March being the low season.

Land-O-Pines

Land-O-Pines is a full service camp, with basic campsites providing water and electricity. Located in Covington, the campground is family-friendly with a swimming pool, picnic areas, playground, game room, nearby river and beach to use, a volleyball court, 18-hole mini golf, and a basketball court. On the weekends bands often play on-site, and there are local attractions for families to visit, such as the Boguechitto Canoeing & Tubing Center and Golf Cart World.

Bayou Segnette State Park

This state parks offers 98 premium campsites, with all sites offering water and electrical hookup. The park is a 30-minute drive from New Orleans, with many opportunities to view and enjoy the park, namely fishing, canoeing, picnicking, and, swimming in the wave pool. Salt and freshwater fishing are both accessible from the park, as well as the opportunity to spot a diverse array of wildlife with both swamp and marshland coexisting in the park.

Lake Fausse Pointe State Park

This 6,000-acre campground and park, once the home of the Chitimacha Indians, offers a wide range of campsites to suit all preferences. From 50 primitive campsites (no restrooms, hot showers, electrical hook ups) to 33 improved campsites, with water and electrical hookups. Located in Martinville in south Louisiana, boats, canoes, and kayaks can all be rented on-site by the hour or by the day. There are four main hiking trails ranging from a three-quarter mile nature trail to a seven-mile canoe trail.

Lake Claiborne State Park

Lake Claiborne State Park is situated in Homer, near the Arkansas border. This park offers countless recreational activities including swimming at the park's sandy beaches, fishing, birding and wildlife viewing, boating, water skiing, camping and hiking. The parks boats six trails ranging from the King of the Mountain 0.45 mile trail to the White Tail six-mile trail. There is also a variety of different campsites, both primitive and full service.
