Foods That Promote Weight Loss and Burn Fat

Protein

Protein has a high thermic effect when it is eaten. This means that it takes the body a lot of calories to process it. This is turn leads to a higher metabolism which can increase weight loss. With that being said, the sources of protein should be lean and low in sodium. Some examples are chicken breasts, turkey, lean beef, fish, tofu and eggs. Eggs also have vitamin B12, which helps increase the rate at which fat cells get broken down in the body.

Dairy

Dairy products have protein and calcium in them. According to the National Dairy Council, when three servings of dairy products are eaten on a daily basis, weight loss can occur. The calcium helps the body effectively burn more fat. Some examples of foods with calcium include milk, cottage cheese, yogurt, cheese and fortified orange juice.

Fiber

Fiber is a substance that is indigestible in the body. When it is eaten, it helps block the absorption of cholesterol, promotes regularity and removes harmful wastes from the body. It also keeps you feeling full for a long period of time because it digests slowly. This in turn can cause you to eat less overall calories, and it will also keep your insulin and blood sugar levels steady which can promote weight loss. Some foods that contain fiber include fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, oat bran and oatmeal.

Water

Water brings numerous benefits to the body. It helps with hydration, lubricates the joints, flushes toxins from the system and it helps to metabolize fat. If that's not enough, when you drink it before meals, it can keep you feeling more full so you eat less overall calories which can lead to weight loss. If you drink it cold, this will cause your metabolism to rise as your body tries to heat the water.
