What to Put in a Tackle Box

Fishing is one of the most enjoyable recreational activities that sportsmen can enjoy. Whether you are a beginner or a veteran angler, all you need is a fishing pole, a hook and some bait to have a good day. However, if you are out on the lake for a few hours at a time, you may want to take a tackle box that will include all the equipment you could need during the day.

Step 1

Start off with extra line. You may be able to sink your hook into a number of fish early and then begin the process of bringing it in. But if your line gets tangled or your fish is too strong for the line, you may need to replace some of your fishing line. You need to bring more line with you and store it in your tackle box.

Step 2

Store lures in your tackle box. The lures are hooks set in designs of fish and bait. A fish is less likely to go for a hook that is undisguised than one that looks like the type of thing the fish likes to eat. Many lures can look like small fish or an insect and they are likely to attract a fish.

Step 3

Bring extra bait with you on your day of fishing and you can keep it in your tackle box. Whether you are fishing with worms, fish or insects, you need to store them and they belong in your tackle box.

Step 4

Put weights and sinkers in your box. Perhaps you are going out on a deep sea fishing trip and you are going after fish that swim deeper in the ocean. You will need weights for your line.

Step 5

Store your food and drink in your tackle box as well. You may be going on an all-day fishing trip or excursion. No need to be hungry or thirsty. Many tackle boxes have a spot for a drink and a sandwich and they will also keep them insulated. This is essential for a long day of fishing.
