If you feel tired, run down and irritable it may be because you have toxins in your body. With all the chemicals surrounding us it is sure that we are ingesting many nasty contaminants. Cleansing out your system can rid you of many of the impurities bogging you down. Follow some simple tips for cleaning out your body's systems.
Water
Drink plenty of purified water to flush toxins from your body. Invest in a filter system for your tap or in bottled water to assure you have clean H20 going into your system. Buy a reusable nonplastic water bottle to take with you when you go out. Aim for consuming an 8 oz. glass of water every couple of hours at least. Increase your intake in warmer weather and when you are very active. Always choose water over sports drinks unless your activity level is so high that it requires you to replenish electrolytes in your body.
Modified Fasting
In a modified fast, you limit yourself to liquid foods such as watery soups, broths, gelatin and whole fruit and vegetable juices. Anytime you fast make sure you take a multivitamin and monitor how you are feeling. If you become lightheaded or feel very weak, add some solid food to your diet. Do not fast for more than a week at a time.
Fiber Therapy
Fiber helps digestion causing you to eliminate more solid waste and the toxins that accompany it. Add fiber by changing your regular diet. Consume foods high in fiber, which include whole grains, beans, leafy dark greens and citrus fruits. You can also take a fiber supplement containing psychillium. These are available over the counter in pharmacies and come in powdered or pill form. Follow the label's directions for dosage and frequency of use. Fiber therapy has the added bonus of making your bowel movements easier to pass, but be aware that added fiber can cause gas, especially when you first increase your levels of it.
Organic Foods
Though organic foods can be costly, they are better for you than the usual grocery store fare. Visit shops that specialize in the freshest foods raised or grown in organic conditions. These will be free of the toxic chemicals such as pesticides. Populate your diet with a variety of organically grown vegetables that will aid you in cleansing out your digestive system. These include broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, eggplant, collard greens, spinach, carrots and celery.
Colonics and Enemas
Both colonics and enemas are efficient means of cleansing out your body's systems. Colonics are performed in many health centers and spas. The colonic provides an irrigation of your colon so that many toxins and impurities are immediately expelled. Enemas are procedures in which water and sometimes other kinds of liquids are forced up into the bowels, retained for a period of time and then evacuated. Enemas are often self-performed at home. You can purchases disposable sterile kits from local drug stores.
