The eye area dominates the facial landscape, and poor skin health around the eyes can make your entire complexion look haggard or worn. Prescription topical treatments and surgical procedures can help enhance the eye area and banish wrinkles but may be expensive, painful or both. Instead, consider an over-the-counter eye cream. The best creams can condition the eye area and improve the skin's health for an overall better appearance.
Neutrogena Visibly Firm Night Cream, Active Copper
The eye cream in Neutrogena's Visibly Firm product line is made with "good antioxidants," according to antiaging skin care expert Paula Begoun. Standard emollients help keep the thin eye skin hydrated, while the copper may help to firm up and tighten the skin's surface. The eye cream is noncomedogenic, so even acne-prone skin can benefit from it.
Bremenn Research Labs Hylexin Eye Cream
Bremenn Research Labs' eye cream was recommended by the "Women's Health" magazine's beauty editors as a prime way to diminish the severity of dark undereye circles for a perkier, brighter look. The cream comes formulated with natural skin conditioners, like herbs, soy extract and hydrolyzed lupine protein, plus basic skin-hydrating moisturizers like glycerin.
Shiseido Benefiance Concentrated Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream
Begoun tested Shiseido's eye cream and loved its "lush texture." She says it's "tailor-made" to moisturize and condition your dry skin---not just in the eye area but everywhere on your face. Begoun also notes that Shiseido used "tried and true" moisturizers, plus antioxidants derived from natural sources like algae. The latter may help keep wrinkles away.
SkinCeuticals Eye Cream Firming Treatment
The eye cream by SkinCeuticals may help firm up wrinkles and sagging skin around your eyes and was named "excellent" by Begoun, who handed it her coveted Paula's Pick award. She liked numerous characteristics, such as its lightweight feel, high amount of antioxidants like vitamin C and moisturizing plant oils. No synthetic perfumes are added so your sensitive skin isn't irritated.
