Aging is a natural process, and as we age, wrinkles start to develop. Aging causes the dermis layer of the skin to thin out and our skin cells to divide slower. Our skin looses it's elasticity and it is less able to retain moisture. The elastin and collagen fibers that support the outer layer of the skin become loose and cause depressions on the surface. Two other factors that contribute to the formation of wrinkles include smoking and sun damage. There may be no way to stop the aging process, but there are some surprising ways to reduce wrinkles and look years younger.

Sleep On Your Back

Sleeping in certain positions can cause wrinkles. If you sleep on your side it can cause wrinkles on your cheeks and chin. If you sleep face-down, it can cause wrinkles on your brow line. Sleeping on your back is one of the best ways to help reduce and prevent wrinkles.

Eat Salmon

Salmon is a great source of protein and the essential fatty acid called omega-3. Omega-3 helps to nourish the skin and keep it looking young. Other cold-water fish are also a great source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids.

Stop Squinting

Squinting causes you to overwork facial muscles. When you overwork facial muscles, a groove forms beneath the skin surface, which can cause a wrinkle. Wearing sunglasses and getting reading glasses when needed are good ways to reduce wrinkles.

Drink Cocoa

Cocoa contains high levels of epicatchin and catechin. Epicatchin and catechin are flavonols that protect the skin from sun damage, affect hydration, improve circulation to skin cells and helps make the skin look smoother.

Do Not Over-Wash Your Face

Over-washing your face can contribute to wrinkles. Water strips skin of natural oils, so washing your face too often can rid the skin of natural protection. Using a facial cleanser instead of soap can help with facial moisture.

Use Vitamin C

Vitamin C can increase collagen production, which helps protect the skin against UVA and UVB rays. It also helps to improve inflammatory skin conditions. L-ascorbic acid is one of the best types of vitamin C to use for wrinkle reduction.
