Does Cinnergen Work?

Cinnergen Mechanism

Cinnergen is a liquid to be taken once a day. It is designed to help people with type II diabetes control their blood sugar, though it can also be effective for non-diabetic people. Cinnergen works by supplying extra amounts of certain nutrients that are essential for the proper processing of sugar. The body needs certain vitamins and minerals to properly process sugar in the blood. These compounds, known as co-enzymes, help the proteins that transport sugar out of the blood. By providing these nutrients in a concentrated form, Cinnergen aims to improve sugar metabolism in order to better control blood sugar levels.

Ingredients

Cinnergen has kelp extract in it, which has been shown to improve metabolism by aiding in thyroid function. Another ingredient, cinnamon, has a compound called methyl hydroxychalcone polymer which makes insulin more potent and effective. Cinnergen also has blueberry leaf, which helps limit how much sugar the body absorbs from food. Cinnergen also has other compounds, such as cranberry, oat seed, ginger, aloe vera juice, irish moss and green tea. These compounds, while not having any specific effect on sugar metabolism, are commonly used to help promote overall body health, including health of the liver, the kidneys, and the immune system. Cinnergen also contains sugar sea beet, acerola and black cherry extracts.

Effectiveness

In 2007, Cinnergen's effectiveness was tested by Dr. Goldfarb and Dr. Miller at the Bucks Country Research Center in Pennsylvania. These physicians split a group of 50 patients with type II diabetes into two groups. Half of the patients received Cinnergen and have received a placebo. The physicians then monitored the patient's blood sugar levels over time. After one week, 48 percent of the patients taking Cinnergen experienced a drop in their blood sugar levels, with the average drop being twelve percent. After three months, 55 percent of the patients taking Cinnergen experienced a drop in blood sugar with an average drop of 22 percent. Two percent of patients receiving the placebo had a minimal drop in blood sugar, a trend that continued after three months. This suggests that Cinnergen can be effective on its own for people with type II diabetes.
