Hit the gym to keep your muscles in shape, but you don't need any equipment to exercise the muscles in your face. Your face has muscles that suffer from the effects of gravity and time, just like the rest of your body. Facial muscles definitely benefit from some toning exercises, and there are several effective routines that will make a difference in how you look.
Eye Muscles
The muscles around your eyes can help keep your skin looking vibrant and your eyes bright. To exercise your eye muscles, place your first two fingers of each hand on your temples and gently pull back toward your ears. With your fingers providing the resistance, tightly close your eyes and hold for a couple of seconds. Repeat for three sets of 20 repetitions.
Chin Muscles
Strengthening your chin muscles can tighten your mouth area and the front of your neck. Sit or stand, and raise your lower lip up toward your nose. Hold it there, and at the same time forcefully lower your chin toward your feet. Pull down using your chin and neck muscles. Keep your head still during this exercise and repeat for two sets of 10 reps.
Front of the Neck
Many people eventually suffer from hanging, sagging skin on the front of their necks. By toning the surrounding muscles, it is possible to tighten up your neck area. Stand or sit with your mouth closed. Tilt your head back, and while it is back press your tongue to the roof of your mouth firmly. While still holding your tongue against the roof of your mouth, bring your chin back down to your chest. Repeat for two sets of 10 repetitions.
Brow Exercises
Many wrinkles and creases form around the eyes and brow line. To tone up your brows, place your index fingers above your eyebrows and pull downward. Then lift your eyebrows against the resistance and hold for five seconds. Repeat 20 times.
Jowl Exercises
The jowls refer to the hanging and sagging skin underneath your chin and jaw line. One way to help minimize the effect of jowls is to very tightly purse your lips like you are about to kiss someone. Your face will look like a strange kind of frown. Then, break into a huge, exaggerated grin and pull your mouth back toward your ears. Repeat for 10 to 30 repetitions.
