Cellulite Creams That Actually Work

Surface deposits of fat right below your skin, also known as cellulite, can leave your skin looking dimpled or lumpy. The University of Maryland Medical Center says it commonly arises in areas like your thighs and buttock area. Several over-the-counter creams and lotions can temporarily help to hydrate and firm your skin surface for less cellulite. For permanent results, consult your dermatologist about lifestyle changes, like exercise, and surgical options that can help remove cellulite once and for all.

Nivea Smoothing Cellulite Gel-Cream

Nivea's firming cream comes formulated with L-cartinine, according to skincare expert Paula Begoun. It may affect fat metabolism and help with smoothing away surface fat deposits that contribute to cellulite. Begoun also says it may work as an antioxidant, which can help improve the overall appearance of your skin and help with other skin problems, like fine lines.

Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Plump Perfect Ultra Lift and Firm Moisture Cream SPF 30

The editors of Women's Health magazine recommend using Elizabeth Arden's skin-plumping cream. Its active ingredient is retinoids, which the magazine says can stimulate the production of collagen and lead to a firmer skin surface. Additional ingredients include ceramides that help to moisturize your skin. Your skin will also benefit from the built-in sunscreen, which defends the skin from UV rays that may lead to further collagen breakdown and worse cellulite conditions.

Clarins Super Restorative Redefining Body Care

Clarin's body-firming cream was picked by InStyle magazine as the best anti-cellulite firming cream available. Its efficacy goes beyond its cosmetic pigments, which help to instantly correct skin tone and blemishes. The magazine says its inclusion of skin-firming ingredients and caffeine can tighten the skin surface, reducing the severity of dimpled skin.

Estee Lauder Body Performance Firming Body Creme

Begoun says Estee Lauder's cream comes in an "elegant body moisturizer formula." She loved its use of antioxidants and "cell-communicating" ingredients, which may help the skin repair itself for a smoother, firmer tone. It also includes skin firming moisturizers, plus silicone that can cosmetically fill in imperfections.
