According to Medicine Net, the most common causes of pimples and acne include hormonal changes such as pregnancy, menopause and adolescence, overproduction of sebaceous oil glands or buildup of bacteria beneath the surface of the skin. Though occasional pimples are fairly common for a variety of different age groups, they can be embarrassing and uncomfortable--particularly when they occur on the lips. Some home remedies can help you get rid of pimples on the lips. Proponents of these treatments claim that they work, but these remedies have not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Consult your doctor before beginning any new treatment.

Lime Juice, Carrot Oil and Jojoba Oil

According to Julie Gabriel, author of "The Green Beauty Guide: Your Essential Resource to Organic and Natural Skin Care, Hair Care, Makeup, and Fragrances," a mixture of lime juice, carrot oil and jojoba oil can be applied to the skin and lips to help fight acne. Mix 1 tbsp. lime juice with 1/2 tbsp. carrot oil and 1 tbsp. jojoba oil in a small container. Gently massage a small amount of the mixture onto your lips and leave the mixture on. There's no need to wash or rinse the mixture off your lips. Lime juice, carrot oil and jojoba oil can be used daily as long as no irritation occurs, and unused portions of the mixture can be stored in the refrigerator for two to three days.

Turmeric, Mint and Jojoba Oil

A mixture of turmeric, mint and jojoba oil can be applied to the lips to help prevent and cure acne, according to Melanie A. Sachs, author of "Ayurvedic Beauty Care." Combine 1/2 tsp. ground turmeric with 1/4 tsp. freshly chopped mint leaves and 1 tbsp. jojoba oil. Massage a small amount of the mixture onto the affected area and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing the area with cool water. This treatment can be repeated several times daily as long as the mixture doesn't irritate your skin or worsen the acne. Unused portions of the mixture can be stored in the refrigerator for two days before discarding.

Wheatgrass Juice

According to Jethro Kloss, author of "Back to Eden: The Classic Guide to Herbal Medicine, Natural Foods, and Home Remedies since 1939," wheatgrass juice can be consumed and left on the lips to help prevent acne caused by bacteria buildup. Kloss recommends drinking 2 oz. to 4 oz. wheatgrass juice per day while applying a small amount to the lips for about five minutes before rinsing the area. Kloss notes the importance of drinking wheatgrass juice while applying the mixture to the skin, because wheatgrass can help cleanse the body and fight acne from the inside out as well. Wheatgrass can be consumed several times per day as long as it doesn't irritate your stomach or skin. For best results, make your own wheatgrass juice daily or buy it from a market or juice bar.
