Not all face creams are alike. Many contain harmful chemicals or ingredients that can break down your skin's collagen levels, irritate your pores or lead to acne breakouts. For the best results and a naturally beautiful facial complexion, select a face cream that's been reviewed by dermatologists or skin-care experts and received a good rating.

Kinerase C8 Peptide Intensive Treatment

Anti-aging expert Paula Begoun put Kinerase's moisturizing facial cream through her tests and rated it as "a good formula" with a "nicely done" mixture of antioxidants, natural emollients and other skin-benefiting ingredients. She notes that it uses kinetin and peptides, which may have a helpful effect on reducing signs of aging, such as wrinkles.

Lancome Bienfait Multi-Vital SPF 30 Lotion

Lancome's facial lotion is one of the best daytime facial moisturizers that you can buy at a department store, according to the editors of Women's Health magazine. Dr. Mary Lupo, a dermatologist reviewing Lancome's cream for the magazine, loved its use of mexoryl, saying it is one of the "best sunscreen ingredients." While the sunscreen blocks UV rays, potent antioxidants such as vitamin B-5 and vitamin E help to hydrate and rejuvenate your skin cells.

Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Day SPF 20

The performance of Peter Thomas Roth's wrinkle cream was "very good," reports Begoun. She says it's an ideal moisturizing facial cream for slightly dry to normal skin and contains various types of peptides, which may help to prevent wrinkles and relax existing fine lines. One drawback is its use of lemon and ginger herbal extracts, which may be slightly irritating if you have sensitive skin.

Olay Anti-Wrinkle Nutrients Daily SPF 15 Lotion

Begoun loved the "generous size" of this facial cream, available from most drugstores. She says it excels at moisturizing your skin using a combination of effective active ingredients such as silicone and glycerin. It also offers "reliable UVA protection," helping to defend your skin from the wrinkling effects of the sun. Olay adds cosmetic pigments such as mica to add an instant glow to your skin and camouflage slight blemishes.
