Not all calorie-burning supplements come loaded with caffeine and stimulants. These natural fat-burning substances not only help you burn more fat, but they also provide many other health benefits as well. These supplements can help you burn more fat than with diet and exercise alone. By naturally promoting more fat burning, they allow you to increase the effectiveness of your weight-loss program many times over. Add these healthy calorie-burning supplements to lose weight fast.
L-Carnitine
L-Carnitine has several functions in the body that may contribute to increased calorie burning. Some argue that it is not strictly an amino acid because it acts as a coenzyme, transporting fatty acids into the mitochondria to be burned as fuel, according to "Supplements 101" by Jim Stoppani, in the January 2010 Muscle & Fitness: The Ultimate Supplement Handbook. In addition, L-carnitine may enhance muscle recovery and activate hormone receptors. A special form, glycine propionyl L-carnitine, or GPLC, increases the body's production of nitric oxide, or NO, which promotes fat loss, according to "Natural Anabolics" by Jerry Brainum. Take 1 to 3 grams up to three times per day.
Fish Oil
Fish oil contains an essential polyunsaturated fatty acid known as omega-3, which has many health benefits. According to "Five Fat Fighters" by Matthew Kadey, it contains a chemical known as DHA or docosahexaenoic acid. This stuff inhibits fatty acid formation, increases fatty acid release for use as energy, and actively promotes fat burning and thermogenesis by inhibiting the secretion of large amounts of the hormone insulin. If you do not eat fish regularly, take 1 to 2 g three times per day.
Epigallocatechin Gallate
Epigallocatechin gallate, also known as EGCG, is a naturally occurring polyphenol antioxidant in green tea. The extent to which green tea increases calorie burning cannot be fully explained by its relatively minor caffeine content. EGCG prolongs the activity of the neurotransmitter norepinephrine, which allows fatty acids to release their stored energy for fat burning, according to Stoppani. However, you would need to drink 10 cups of green tea or more per day to get the optimal dosage of EGCG. For this reason, it is recommended that you take a green tea extract, standardized to contain 300 milligrams of EGCG per serving. Take EGCG up to three times daily. To make it even more effective, add 200 mg of caffeine, says "Homemade Supplement Secrets" author Jeff Anderson.
Vitamin D
New research on Vitamin D suggests that it can help you burn more calories, according to "Five Fat Fighters." Known as the sunshine vitamin, Vitamin D builds stronger bones, may inhibit cancer cells and increases the thermic or fat-burning effect of a meal. Vitamin D also acts as a hormone, preventing fat from being stored and allowing circulating fatty acids to be burned as fuel. Great sources of Vitamin D include egg yolks, milk and cod liver oil. Take 1,000 mg up to two times daily with meals.
