Installing training wheels on a bicycle can be completed in about 15 minutes and will allow your youngster to start learning how to ride a bicycle in no time. Many children's bicycles come packaged with training wheels, but it is possible to purchase training wheels separately. Training wheels come in a variety of colors and designs.
Step 1
Loosen the nut on the axle, which holds the bicycle tire on, with the wrench, but do not remove the tire. This is where the training wheel will be attached.
Step 2
Put one training wheel on the stud and hand tighten the nut.
Step 3
Loosen the nut on the opposite side with the wrench.
Step 4
Place the training wheel on the stud and hand tighten the nut.
Step 5
Have someone hold the bike upright.
Step 6
Ensure that the bike stands upright and level and tighten the nuts with a wrench or screwdriver.
Step 7
Have your youngster ride the bike and ensure that everything is working OK.
Tips and Warnings
- Having someone to hold the bike for you will make the installation go much more smoothly.
- Make sure to tighten the nuts or the training wheel may fall off.
