According to the Mayo Clinic, chemical peels are a common treatment used to reduce pore size on the skin. While chemical peels can be effective, they are often expensive and abrasive, particularly in comparison to natural home remedies that use ingredients you may already have in your home. While supporters of these remedies claim that they work, these claims are not supported by the FDA, so consult your doctor or dermatologist before trying them.

Brown Sugar and Almond Oil Scrub

According to Jethro Kloss, author of "Back to Eden: The Classic Guide to Herbal Medicine, Natural Foods and Home Remedies Since 1939," a mixture of brown sugar and natural almond oil can be scrubbed on the skin to help reduce the size of your pores in a short period of time. To use brown sugar and almond oil as a skin scrub, combine 2 tbsp. brown sugar with 1 tbsp. natural almond oil in a small container and stir to combine. Gently massage the mixture onto wet skin for 15 to 20 seconds before rinsing with cool water. Cleanse the skin with a gentle soap and apply your regular moisturizer if you typically use one. Use this treatment once in the morning and once at night as long as it does not irritate your skin. Unused portions can be kept in the refrigerator for 48 hours.

Egg Whites and Lemon Juice

According to Melanie A. Sachs, author of "Ayurvedic Beauty Care," egg whites and lemon juice can be applied to the skin to help reduce the size of your pores. To use egg whites and lemon juice on your skin, combine the white of one egg with 2 tbsp. lemon juice and apply a thin layer of the mixture onto the skin. Leave the mixture on until it dries, approximately 45 to 60 minutes before rinsing with cool, clean water and washing with a gentle soap. Apply your regular moisturizer if you use one. Use this treatment twice per day as needed unless it irritates your skin. Do not keep unused portions of the mixture for future use, because bacteria easily grows in the mixture, which at the least may render the solution ineffective.

Aloe Vera and Brewer's Yeast

According to Jethro Kloss, author of "Back to Eden: The Classic Guide to Herbal Medicine, Natural Foods and Home Remedies Since 1939," a mixture of all-natural aloe vera gel and brewer's yeast can be used as a topical treatment for pore reduction and other skin care problems like acne, blackheads and whiteheads. To use aloe vera and brewer's yeast, combine 2 tbsp. aloe vera gel with 1 tbsp. brewer's yeast and apply the mixture to the skin. Leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes and rinse with cool water before washing with a gentle cleanser. This treatment can be applied once per day as long as it does not bother your skin. Unused portions should not be kept for future use.
