Homeopathic Treatment for Ear Ringing

Ear ringing, or tinnitus, is an unnerving and uncomfortable condition that can include buzzing, whistling, tingling, hissing, and roaring sounds. This affliction is often caused by overexposure to loud sounds, such as boom boxes, rock concert speakers, industrial equipment, construction equipment, gunshots and a one-time blast or explosion. Other causes can be a build-up of earwax leading to ear canal blockage, a perforated eardrum, too many antibiotics or too much aspirin, hypertension, diabetes, sinusitis, head injuries, stress, jaw or neck problems, high blood pressure, colds or the flu. Aside from pharmaceutical treatments, there are many natural remedies without side effects.

Step 1

Most of the homeopathic remedies listed above require a 6X dosage taken three times per day for up to two weeks, unless indicated here or on the directions that come with the remedy.

Step 2

Take tinctures in purified water.

Step 3

Drink plenty of purified water between doses.

Step 4

Apply a warm compress to your ears and neck for temporary relief.

Tips and Warnings

  • Other herbal remedies are also quite effective for ear ringing: gingko biloba extract, black cohosh tincture (if the symptoms are due to blood congestion or pressure), feverfew tincture, hawthorn tincture (if the symptoms are due to poor circulation or high blood pressure). To prevent and sometimes eliminate symptoms, limit your intake of alcohol, caffeine, saturated fats, salt and aspirin. Smoking exacerbates tinnitus. Increase your intake of magnesium, potassium and manganese, and include foods rich in vitamin A and C and bioflavonoids to ensure good circulation. Avoid loud sounds. A neck massage may help with ear ringing. You can also roll your neck gently in circles. Chewing on dry fruits is good as it increases needed blood circulation to the ear.
