Stretch marks are caused when collagen under the skin is damaged, usually from some drastic change in skin tension such as weight gain, significant weight loss or pregnancy. One of the most common home remedies for treatment of stretch marks is topical application of cocoa butter. Cocoa butter is a dense natural fat that melts at body temperature, allowing it to seep quickly and efficiently into the skin. By applying cocoa butter regularly, you can cause your stretch marks to fade, gradually restoring your skin to a more normal appearance.

Step 1

Clean the affected areas of your skin with a nonirritating soap and dry them with a towel.

Step 2

Apply enough cocoa butter to completely cover your stretch marks; usually, this is just enough to cover the tips of two or three fingers. Rub the cocoa butter into your skin in a circular motion until all the cocoa butter is absorbed.

Step 3

Apply cocoa butter to the affected areas twice per day, once in the morning and again before bed. Always apply cocoa butter after you shower.
