When you meet a friend for dinner or talk to coworkers at your office, one of the first things they notice is your face. They may observe your clothes, shoes or accessories, but when they talk to you, they are paying attention to your facial expressions. Look your best every day by using natural methods to enhance your facial beauty.
Homemade Facial Mask
A facial mask is used to exfoliate, nourish or stimulate your face. Applying a thick, semi-solid liquid to your face may sound strange, but facial masks moisturize your skin and can increase blood flow to your face. Having a facial in a spa is an expensive luxury. Use natural ingredients you have in your kitchen to make your own facial mask. The website Health Guidance recommends using a mask once a week and leaving it on for 10 to 15 minutes. Mix 2 tbsp. of full-fat plain yogurt with 1/2 of a pureed cucumber and apply the mixture to your face. Cover your eyes with cucumber slices and relax for 15 minutes. Rinse with cool water.
Cleansing
Keeping your face clean is an important step in your facial hygiene, but the chemicals used in commercial cleansers may irritate your face. According to Homemade Beauty Recipes, "Surfactants are added to cleansers for the rich lather we all have come accustomed to. However they can be really harsh on skin." Make your own natural cleanser and enjoy the benefits of a custom cleanser at a fraction of the price. Mix up a batch of natural coconut cleanser by combining three tbsp. of coconut oil, one tbsp. of olive oil, one tsp. of glycerin and one tsp. of water. Melt the mixture on low heat, and put it in a small bottle.
Water
One way to enhance your skin and lessen the appearance of wrinkles is to drink water. Lisa Drayer, author of "The Beauty Diet," says "Drinking enough water keeps us hydrated from the inside out, and helps keep our skin healthy, soft, smooth and glowing." Our bodies are 70% water, and staying adequately hydrated is not only good for our internal body functions, but for our external appearance. Drink six to eight glasses of water a day, and avoid caffeinated beverages.
Sleep
You may not think of sleep as a natural facial beauty enhancer, but according to an article in the "Los Angeles Times" getting enough sleep is an easy way to improve your skin. The article states, "Unfortunately, as we age, lack of sleep affects us more deeply and shows more prominently on our faces - lackluster complexions, dark circles, fine lines and, in more extreme cases, rashes and eczema." Plan on sleeping for six to eight hours at a time to give your skin a chance to revitalize itself and repair damaged tissue.
