Hope isn't lost once the skin around your eyes gets damaged by dehydration, sun exposure or other lifestyle factors. Several eye creams contain potent anti-aging chemicals and antioxidants that can help you get rid of damaged skin and rejuvenate your appearance. With constant use and protection from the sun, your skin can take on a firmer, more supple and youthful look.
La Roche-Posay Redermic Eyes
Anti-aging skincare expert Paula Begoun reviewed La Roche-Posay's eye cream and notes that its efficacy was very good. She gave it positive marks for containing a good amount of vitamin C, which the University of Maryland Medical Center says is a potent antioxidant that helps recondition the skin. It's made without fragrances, so your sensitive eye skin won't be irritated, and it dries to what Begoun calls a "silky, nearly matte finish."
Olay Professional Pro-X Hydra Firming Cream
Olay's firming cream is intended for use on the entire face, including around your eyes. In 2010, InStyle magazine's editors picked it as one of the top choices for rejuvenating your skin's appearance, thanks to its proprietary peptide complex. Additionally, the cream helps to trap moisture in your skin for a firmer and less wrinkled look, and it also exfoliates your skin surface. Regular exfoliation helps reduce wrinkles, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center.
MD Formulations Vit-A-Plus Anti-Aging Eye Complex
MD Formulations makes its anti-aging eye cream with alpha hydroxy acids with a concentrated strength of 10 percent, according to Begoun. The University of Maryland Medical Center says such acids are great for rejuvenating the skin surface by removing damaged skin cells and encouraging greater collagen production. Begoun also likes MD Formulations' addition of vitamin E and vitamin A, which act as antioxidants that help prevent new damage.
Neutrogena Ageless Intensives Deep Wrinkle Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream
Neutrogena's eye cream contains a wide variety of skin-rejuvenating and conditioning ingredients, says Begoun. Notable examples include retinol, which the University of Maryland Medical Center calls one of the best topical wrinkle treatments available. It's also made with antioxidants, which can help reduce free radical damage, silicones and anti-irritants. Begoun concludes that the cream will help limit the appearance of fine, dry lines and wrinkles.
