Acne, moles and blackheads are common skin irritations caused by many different factors, including clogged sebaceous glands, bacteria buildup as well as overexposure to sunlight. While these types of skin irritations are not uncommon, they can be embarrassing and uncomfortable. However, there are natural home remedies to help get rid of acne, moles and blackheads. While supporters of these cures claim that they work, these claims have not been evaluated by the FDA for effectiveness.

Lemon Juice, Rosemary Essential Oil, Sage Essential Oil & Jojoba Oil

According to Melanie A. Sachs, author of “Ayurvedic Beauty Care," a mixture of lemon juice, rosemary essential oil, sage essential oil and jojoba oil can help get rid of acne.

To use this mixture, combine 2 tbsp. freshly squeezed lime juice, 1/2 tsp. rosemary essential oil, 1/2 tsp. sage essential oil, and 6 tbsp. jojoba oil in a small container with a tight-fitting lid. Shake or stir the mixture vigorously to thoroughly combine the ingredients.

With a clean cotton pad, apply a thin layer of the mixture to the skin and leave on for approximately 10 minutes. Rinse the skin with cool water and wash with a gentle cleanser before applying your regular moisturizer. This treatment can be repeated every day, as long as it does not cause skin irritation.

Cumin Seeds, Apple Essential Oil & Avocado Oil

According to Vasant Lad, author of "The Complete Book of Ayurvedic Home Remedies," cumin seeds, apple essential oil and avocado oil can be applied to the skin to help get rid of moles.

Combine 1/2 tsp. cumin seeds, 1/2 tsp. apple essential oil and 6 tsp. avocado oil in a mortar and pestle, and then crush the cumin seeds until it forms a smooth paste. Apply the mixture to the affected area and leave on for approximately 10 minutes.

Rinse the skin with clean, cool water and pat dry with a clean towel. There is no need to wash with soap after using this mixture unless it irritates your skin. You can store unused portions of this mixture in the refrigerator for up to five days.

Honey, Sugar & Baking Soda

According to Jethro Kloss, author of “"Back to Eden: The Classic Guide to Herbal Medicine, Natural Foods, and Home Remedies since 1939," a mixture of honey, sugar and baking soda can be applied to the skin to help get rid of blackheads.

Combine 2 tbsp. raw honey, 1 tbsp. sugar and 1 tbsp. baking soda. Gently massage a small amount of the mixture into your wet skin for approximately 30 seconds before rinsing with cool water. Wash your skin with a gentle cleanser and apply your regular moisturizer.

This treatment can be used daily as long as no irritation occurs. Unused portions can be kept in the refrigerator for two to three days, but it should be brought back to room temperature before using it again for best results.
