Do you see more hair than usual strewn throughout your home? Maybe it is dry and brittle and more of it is clinging to your comb than ever before. Whatever the cause of hair loss, it can be embarrassing to treat. There are dozens of products on the market that claim to stop hair loss and regrow hair, but it is difficult to know which are effective. Before spending your hard-earned cash on commercial products, try some natural hair loss remedies.
Green Tea
According to the Journal of the National Medical Association, green tea can produce significant benefits pertaining to hair loss. A study published in 2005 noted that green tea reduces the amount of dihydrotestosterone or DHT produced in your body. DHT is often the culprit for losing your hair, so drinking green tea daily may help stop hair loss.
B Vitamins
Several vitamins under the B-Complex umbrella are useful for preventing hair loss. Generally, B Vitamins regulate healthy hemoglobin levels, so a deficiency may cause parched, brittle hair.
Biotin breaks down amino acids and encourages production of fatty acids. Vitamin B3 promotes blood circulation and B6 aids in healthy hair growth. Soybeans, dark leafy green vegetables, orange juice, chicken and eggs are rich sources of B vitamins.
Scalp Massage
A good old-fashioned scalp massage is the least expensive natural remedy for healthy hair. You can do this with your fingertips or you can use a hair brush. Scalp massages promote better blood circulation, which transports more nutrients to the hair follicles. Brushing your hair stimulates oil production so follicles and hair strands are moisturized.
Vitamin D
Everyday Health states that Vitamin D is necessary to absorb calcium, which encourages a healthy head of hair. A deficiency in either may cause dryness or split ends. Cheese, tofu, milk, liver, sardines and fortified cereals are rich sources of Vitamin D. Your body naturally produces Vitamin D when exposed to sunlight.
