Reactive bowling balls, also known as reactive resin balls, are a popular choice among advanced bowlers. Reactive bowling balls have a urethane coating with resin particles. The resin gives the ball a tacky or sticky quality that improves performance in a variety of lane conditions. The benefits of using a reactive bowling ball may lead to more strikes and improve your game. While a reactive ball is a great choice for a strike ball, you may consider a second, standard ball for straight shots to pick up spares.

Greater Speed

The resin particles in reactive balls cause them to skid across the oil on the lane. Because the ball skids, rather than rolls, it makes its way down the oily part of the lane faster than other types of balls.

Better Grip

When the reactive bowling ball reaches the dryer back of the lane, the slightly sticky resin particles grip the lane. This allows you to keep the ball under control before it strikes the pins at a high rate of speed.

More Hook Potential

Reactive balls have a sharper hook than other types of bowling balls. Because the ball has more power across the oily portion of the lane, it hooks abruptly with more power when it grips the dryer section. The strong hook at the end gives this type of ball a higher likelihood of scoring a strike.
