If you have large, visible pores on your face chances are you have excessively oily skin. Many people dislike the appearance of large pores, and look for ways to make them smaller. There are some over-the-counter remedies that claim to treat large pores, and some home remedies that you can try for yourself. Consult with your physician before attempting to treat any condition yourself.
Exfoliate
Sometimes minimizing the appearance of large pores is as easy as exfoliating your face and scrubbing away dead skin and oils. You can make a homemade salt scrub with sea salt, olive oil and an essential oil for fragrance. Make a relatively coarse paste and rub it into your face. The coarser the salt you choose, the more aggressive the exfoliation will be. Be gentle when using this scrub and consult your dermatologist if you have any concerns about the treatment.
Tomato
Tomato is naturally acidic and will act as an astringent on your face, drawing out excess oils, according to carefair.com. For a natural tomato pore reducer, mix 1 tbsp. of tomato juice with two to four drops of fresh lime juice. Apply it to your face with a cotton ball, then rinse off with cool water after about 15 minutes. Consult with your physician if you have any concerns about this treatment.
Buttermilk and Salt
Make a paste out of salt and buttermilk and massage it into your skin. This will have a tightening effect on the skin. Choose a fine grain salt so the paste isn't too coarse. Remove it with warm water and repeat several times a week. Consult with your physician before attempting to treat any condition yourself.
Cucumber and Lemon
Cucumber and lemon are an effective combination for reducing oily skin. Crush up the meat of a cucumber and add a few drops of lemon juice and a tsp. of rosewater. Spread the paste in between the folds of a clean cloth, then apply the cloth to your face. Wash your face with warm water when you have finished. Again, consult with your physician as needed.
Egg Skin
Eggs are a good choice to help dry out oily skin and reduce the size of your pores. You want the membrane from the inside of the shell, so you will have to crack the egg and set the yolk and white aside. Gently peel the membrane from the shell and apply it to your face. Let it dry and then peel it off. Use as many eggs as you need for full coverage. Consult your dermatologist as needed.
